MARTINA VACHEVA

SHORT BIO
Martina Vacheva (1988) is an artist based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, majoring in Illustration and Book and Print Graphics. Vacheva participated in many international shows as “Baywatch”, KVOST, Berlin (2018); “Dias de Romance” Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2018); “Crack up – Crack down” Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (2020); Keeping the Balance, works from Art Collection Telekom, Museum Ludwig, Budapest (2020); See Me Moving Placeless, from the Art Collection Telekom, Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (2021); How to Deal with the World, works from the Art Collection Telekom part of Berlin Art Week, Wilhelm Hallen, Berlin (2022); Don’t dream dreams – Works from the Art Collection Telekom, Moderna Galerija, Ljubljana, Slovenia (2023); 2024 GROUP THERAPY; Collections in Dialogue – Art Collection Telekom and Prague City Gallery, Stone Bell House, Prague. Her solo shows are: “Sereality”(2016), “Mud”(2018), “Circle Pit”(2021), Sariev Contemporary, Plovdiv; “КОРЕНИ / Roots / Wurzeln”, Museum Folkwang, Essen (2019); “The Sex and the city”, Institute of Contemporary Art, Sofia (2020); The Round, Octopus art space, Sofia (2024); VLACHUGANE, Toplocentrala, Sofia (2024) and Archeological Museum,Varna (2024) where she won the main prize with her show for an “artist” of BUNA contemporary art forum Bulgaria. Vacheva took part in 33rd Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts “Crack Up – Crack Down” where she win one of the prize too. She is the 2017 BAZA / Young Visual Artists Awards winner. Her works are in the collections of Art Collection Telekom, Metropolitan museum library collection, New York, Gaudenz B. Ruf collection, Zurich, Vienna; Museum Folkwang, Essen, EVN Collection.
